Project evolution

During our recent statutory consultation, we presented our proposals for Steeple Renewables Project and sought your feedback. This included requesting input on the site layout and design, details of construction, operation and decommissioning, preliminary environmental information, and plans for the proposed community benefits package. The feedback received, alongside detailed environmental and technical assessments, helped us refine our proposals and informed the final design of the application for Steeple Renewables Project, submitted to the Planning Inspectorate.

The Site and Site Selection

Identifying suitable sites for solar led developments requires a balance between grid connectivity and other factors such as: site accessibility, landscape, ecology, archaeology, and the ability to mitigate impacts on the local area.

We believe that the land we are exploring at Sturton-le-Steeple is well placed to deliver a project that can help the UK reach its decarbonisation goals, whilst minimising impacts on the local community. Steeple Renewables Project presents an opportunity for this part of Nottinghamshire to continue its historic role of helping to power the UK.

Submitted Site Layout

Following consultation we have submitted our DCO application, incorporating feedback received during the statutory consultation. A key change to the proposals is the removal of the secondary access from Area E. Our submitted application can be found on the Application Documents Library.
